Durand Eastman Beach

2017 Summer Opening Delayed

(Thursday, June 8, 2017) – The opening of Durand Eastman Beach, originally scheduled for June 18, is delayed this year due to high water conditions. Group at Durand Eastman Park beach.

According to State Code, there must be 35 square-feet of land open per bather in order for the swimming area to operate. At this time, that does not exist.

The beach will remain closed until further notice. The City of Rochester urges residents to take advantage of its many spray parks and the Genesee Valley Pool as temperatures rise.

A list of spray parks can be found here: www.cityofrochester.gov/sprayparks/.

Information about Genesee Valley Park, which opens June 11, can be found here: www.cityofrochester.gov/GVPSC/
