Public Market Tours

MarketMatters-page-header

For over a century, the Public Market has been one of the most iconic and interesting places in Rochester. To share the past, present and future of the Market, the Friends of the Rochester Public Market offer free tours to elementary school classes, youth organizations, and just about any other group interested!  While the majority of the tours are for elementary school age youth,  they can be adapted for older youth and adult groups.

Tours can be scheduled on Thursdays between the hours of 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. from April through October. The hour-long tour highlights the history of the Market, its importance in the community, and ideas for buying and eating healthy!

Seasonal Market Bounty nutrition packets are sent prior to the tours. Included in this resource are fun ways to encourage healthy eating with youth, kid-friendly recipes and a “Treasure Hunt” that encourages youth to explore the bounty of the Market.

For information or to schedule a tour, or to request a copy of the  Seasonal Market Bounty nutrition packets, please call 585-428-7292 or email the Friends of the Public Market's Tour Coordinator.
