Overlay-Monroe Avenue
Design
District
Citizens worked with the assistance of city staff to create
guidelines to preserve, promote and facilitate the maintenance
of a turn-of-the-century urban commercial district appearance
along the Monroe Avenue corridor. An Overlay-Monroe Avenue
Design district was adopted for the purpose of reviewing and
regulating design characteristics. |

Neighbors (Are Still!)
Building Neighborhoods
NeighborLink Network is a technology initiative to facilitate
communication among NBN partners. The initiative includes ten
computer technology sites, the NBN Information Management System,
NBN website, planning tools and software and a Community Information
Menu. Sector Groups now have access to a specialized feature
that allows users to track ad evaluate the outcomes of their
activities.
The Neighbors Building Neighborhoods Institute provides citizens
with access to information and training in a variety of areas.
Course offerings are suggested by citizen and often involve
in-kind contributions or co-sponsorship by other institutions
and agencies. To date, over 500 citizens have attended the
Institute sessions. A leadership development program is being
launched to prepare new and emerging community leaders. |
