Project Start Date: Spring 1999
Project Completion Date:
The Monroe Avenue initiative is the result of discussions
among Rochester Mayor William A. Johnson, Jr., Brighton Supervisor

to the four municipalities and their many neighborhoods.

a Phase I concept report highlighting goals for the initiative
and the corridor was released in February of 2000.
The four chief elected officials have appointed a twelve member
steering committee, representing citizens, businesses and
the municipalities, that is undertaking activities in support
of the Corridor goals:
A) Preserving/developing
the Avenue is a high profile and competitive economic development
corridor.
B) Ensuring a full range of transportation options along the
Avenue.

cooperation.
