Smoke Detector Program

After a tragic fire in 1999 that took the lives of 4 children in a home without a working smoke detector, The Fire Chief challenged the community to donate detectors that would in turn be installed for free by the Department. The response was overwhelming.

Companies, organizations and individuals donated detectors which were subsequently installed in homes throughout the City.

To see if you are eligible or for information on how you may obtain a new smoke detector, you may contact our SMOKE DECTECTOR HOTLINE at (585) 428-1362.
