About the Project
The East Main Street Reconstruction project includes full-depth pavement reconstruction of East Main Street between North Goodman Street and Culver Road. The project involves pavement narrowing to allow space to construct a 5-foot-wide raised one-way cycle track to accommodate bicycle activity on each side of East Main Street. This protected bicycle lane is vertically separated from motor vehicle traffic and is placed at the same level as the new sidewalk. Existing side street approaches will be reconstructed to properly connect to the narrower pavement section along East Main Street.

Improvements will also include new sidewalk, curb, curb ramps, driveway aprons, drainage basins, water main, water services, hydrants, lighting, signals, signing, pavement markings, tree plantings, mid-block crosswalk with pedestrian refuge island, gateway sign, and other various streetscape improvements. Advanced private utility work is required, including underground utility relocations to accommodate the pavement narrowing and other proposed street work.
This project is funded with federal, state, city and county funds, including an Empire State Development grant in the amount of $1,500,000.
Mayor Warren, and community stakeholders celebrated the start of East Main Street Revitalization Project with
