RFQ - Looking to hire Shelter Veterinarian 

 Animal Services is beginning a search for a full-time Shelter and Community Veterinarian to fill an expected vacancy early in 2022.  The ideal candidate will bring years of shelter experience, however all veterinarians with an interest in being part of our progressive team and who share our commitment to overcoming barriers to best serve our community of people and animals are encouraged to submit resumes to the attention of the Director of Animal Services via email.

Description of Veterinary Consulting Work 

Animal Services contracts with local veterinarians and veterinary technicians to augment the Shelter Medicine and Community Veterinary Unit. Such professional consultants enable Animal Services to more efficiently perform daily rounds, examinations, and treatments and to bolster pet sterilization surgeries and community vet care by distributing those duties among a larger workforce and providing coverage during employee absences, evenings and weekend hours.

RFQ - Dog Trainers and Animal Behavior Consultants 

Description

 Animal Services is interested in contracting with local dog trainers and animal behavior consultants. Such professional consultants enable Animal Services to assess animals entering our care and develop enrichment and behavior management plans accordingly.

 Additionally, dog trainers and behaviorists could also be involved in developing behavioral support program to keep pets in their homes with their families.     

Qualifications

 Candidates should have one or more of the following credentials:  

• Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers
•  International Association of Animal Behavior Consultants
•  Society of Veterinary Behavior Technicians
• The Academy for Dog Trainers
• Karen Pryor Academy

 RFQ - Pet Re - Homing Services

Animal Services partners with pet re-homing services to reduce intake of surrendered pets that may be transferred directly from one owner to another. Such services enable Animal Services to focus its limited resources on the most at-risk animals, the homeless and injured, thereby reducing shelter crowding, euthanasia and operating expenses.

Timeframe 

Proposals and qualifications are accepted on a rolling basis. Interested parties should submit a detailed description of the services provided including a draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) to the attention of the Director of Animal Services at:
