East Main Street Improvements

About the Project

The City of Rochester is reconstructing a section of East Main Street between N Goodman St and Culver Rd, including full depth pavement reconstruction, curb bump outs, a proposed two-way protected bike lanes (cycle track), widened sidewalks, enhanced street lighting, and landscaping. The three lane section is proposed to be reduced to two lanes, which will reduce travel speeds and enhance the bicycle/pedestrian environment (i.e., a "complete street”). Reconstruction of the roadway will improve the ride quality and reduce ongoing maintenance costs. Handicap accessibility will be upgraded as ADA and pedestrian access will be investigated and improvements made in this project where practically feasible and scheduled for the future where not feasible.
