News Release - Monroe County Library System Presents “Libraries After Dark” Series

Rochester, NY- April 30 , 2018 -The Monroe County Library System is launching a new program series, “Libraries After Dark,” featuring themed after-hours social events for adults age 21 years and older.

The first Libraries After Dark event, “May the 4th be With You,” will be held from 9 p.m. to midnight, Friday, May 4 at the Central Library of Rochester and Monroe County, 115 South Ave.

This grown-up “geek fest” will offer a variety of “Star Wars” activities including Jedi combat training, a Death Star-themed escape room, large-scale games, hair and make-up demos, and a costume contest. Rare, “Star Wars” inspired movies and TV specials will be screened, including a holiday special that features the entire original cast. Guests will also enjoy music by DJ Spectrum Sound.

Guests will be required to show ID. A cash bar will be available. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased through www.eventbrite.com, by searching “May the 4th be With You.”

Parking is available at the Court Street Garage (attached to the Library) and the South Avenue Garage.

The “Libraries After Dark” series is sponsored by the Friends & Foundation of the Rochester Public Library, through the Harold Hacker Fund for the Advancement of Libraries. Harold Hacker was the Director of the Monroe County Library System and the Rochester Public Library for 24 years and was instrumental in developing the “one county, one card” system we have today.
