News Release

(Friday, May 11, 2018) – The City of Rochester Public Market’s 29th annual Flower City Days at the Market series continues at 8 a.m. this Sunday, May 13. These horticultural sales feature dozens of vendors specializing in bedding plants, shrubs, vegetable plants, perennials and annuals, gardening accessories and much more. Visitors may also enjoy the newly-opened indoor “B” Shed at the Market, which contains produce, prepared and specialty food and drink vendors and more.

“Every year, Flower City Days at the Market bring the highly anticipated bright colors and earthy aromas of spring to the center of the city,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “Anything and everything you could possibly want for your home garden can be found during these much-anticipated sales at the Public Market. Our award-winning Public Market is a great resource for gardeners, bolstering our efforts to create safer / more vibrant neighborhoods, more jobs and better educational opportunities for our residents. Sunday is Mother’s Day, and I encourage our families to come to the market and experience spring in full bloom.”

Flower City Days at the Market will be held from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday in May, plus Friday, May 25 and Monday, May 28 for the Memorial Day weekend. The final event of the season is June 3.

Cafes and coffee shops on the Market grounds and in the Market District are also open on these Sundays. Master Gardeners from Cornell Cooperative Extension of Monroe County will be on hand to provide expert gardening advice. The City also offers a “give and take” plant container recycling program outside the Market Office. Gardeners can deposit garden pots, flats and containers at the office and take any they may need.
