News Release - ASPCA Awards Grant to Support Spay and Neuter of Pets in Rochester

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, March 20, 2019) -  Mayor Lovely A. Warren announced today that Rochester Animal Services has been awarded a $51,600 grant from the ASPCA’s NYS Animal Population Control Program (APCP) to support its outreach efforts.

“This grant will facilitate spay and neuter operations for pets whose owners face a variety of social and economic challenges,” said Mayor Lovely A. Warren. “Investments like this in our community help us continue our mission of creating safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, better educational opportunities and more jobs for our citizens. I am grateful of the support from the ASPCA in helping us serve all of Rochester’s pet owners.”

The APCP grant will support spay and neuter surgeries for pets of citizens living in Rochester’s most underserved neighborhoods which will be offered in conjunction with the City’s door-to-door pet outreach program. For many pet owners, accessing routine veterinary care and sterilization services is not a realistic option. This type of assistance removes the financial barrier, which helps support healthy choices for pet owners.
