News Release - Statement from Mayor Lovely Warren on this Morning’s Monroe Avenue Fire

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, March 27, 2019) – The devastating fire on Monroe Avenue early this morning caused a number of people to lose all their possessions. My heart goes out to those victims, and I would like to thank our local Red Cross for so valiantly assisting those in need day in and day out.

I would like to take this opportunity to recognize the members of the Rochester Fire Department who fought this fire. Two of our firefighters were trapped inside the building and were rescued by their colleagues. They suffered minor burns.

This fire is a reminder of the dangers our firefighters face every single day to keep our families safe. I would like our residents to join me in thanking them for their heroism and bravery.
