City Council News Release - Statement from Statement from Council President Loretta C. Scott Regarding Adam McFadden

Rochester City Council

News Release

For Immediate Release:
Monday, April 01, 2019

Councilmember Adam C. McFadden plead guilty to charges this morning in federal court, and therefore will be vacating his seat on the Rochester City Council immediately.

The Council, in accordance with the City Charter, has 30 days to fill this vacancy. I will be sending Brittaney Wells, Chairwoman of the Monroe County Democratic Committee, a letter requesting recommendations from the Party for a replacement for South District seat.

Councilmember McFadden represented the South District and his term expires on December 31, 2019.
With this vacancy I will be taking steps to reorganize the leadership of City Council. This month I will submit legislation nominating a new Vice President for the Council to consider, and I will serve as the Interim Chair of the Finance Committee until I appoint a permanent replacement by the end of the month.

I ask that all legal inquiries pertaining to McFadden’s case be directed to his attorney.
