(Tuesday, April 2, 2019) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today
announced that Kelly Miterko, a former Obama White House aide, will join the
City of Rochester as its Policy Director.
Kelly Miterko comes to the City from Burness, a global
communications firm supporting nonprofits, where she focused on a variety of
projects around public health and policy.
“Kelly’s unique skill set and expertise will be a great
benefit to City Hall and the residents of Rochester,” said Mayor Warren.
“We are excited for her to join the team to help us create more jobs, safer
neighborhoods and better educational opportunities for all of our residents.”
Prior to joining Burness, Ms. Miterko served in First
Lady Michelle Obama’s office at the White House, culminating as Deputy Director
of Let’s Move!, First Lady Obama’s national effort to encourage families to
lead healthier lives. She managed multiple components of the initiative while
at the White House, including communications, strategic planning and
collaborations with nonprofit organizations and the private sector.
Ms. Miterko is a native Rochesterian and graduated from
SUNY Stony Brook where she studied health science with a concentration in
public health.
“Rochester has always been home for me, so I am excited
to join Mayor Warren’s team and serve my community,” said Ms. Miterko.
“Our city is at a great time of opportunity, and I look forward to supporting
Mayor Warren’s efforts to help our families and neighborhoods thrive.”
