News Release - Petco Foundation Gives City Grant to Save Homeless Pets

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, April 24, 2019) - Mayor Lovely A. Warren announced today that Rochester Animal Services has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Petco Foundation to support its pet adoption program.

The Petco Foundation investment will support free adoption events, which increase adoption rates of shelter pets. Reducing and waiving fees stimulates consumer interest and motivates people to participate, take action and adopt pets.

“This grant will enable us to get animals adopted during some of the busiest months of the year when shelter space is critically low,” said Mayor Warren. “We appreciate the support from Petco Foundation in helping us save more animal lives. Investments like this in our community help us continue our mission of creating safer, more vibrant neighborhoods, better educational opportunities for our children and more jobs for our citizens.”
