(Tuesday, May 28, 2019) – The final concert in this season’s Big Band Dance Series will take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Roger Robach Community Center, 180 Beach Ave. Featured this week will be Andy Stobie and the Greater Finger Lakes Jazz Band, an 18-piece powerhouse band that plays big band arrangements and customized classic hits. Concert-goers will also enjoy music by the Al Bruno Trio, the opening act for each of the weekly concerts.
The Big Band Dance series is a community tradition, and has ushered in the spring season for the past 50 years.
Sponsored and presented by the volunteer Ontario Beach Park Program Committee, the series brings the community alive with the sounds of Rochester’s best big bands. Bands perform on Wednesday evenings each week from 6 – 9 p.m. The dances are supported by the City of Rochester and Monroe County, as well as Wegmans.
A $2.00 donation is requested and free parking is available in the lot adjacent to the Abbotts Frozen Custard beach location.
The 2019 Big Band Dance Series featured a total of nine outstanding concerts that took place between April 10 and May 29.
