News Release - City Mailing Notices in Preparation for 2020 Property Value Reassessment

City of Rochester

News Release

(Friday, May 31, 2019) – The City of Rochester Bureau of Assessment is starting the year-long process of reassessing all property within the city for tax purposes.

An initial batch of letters with property inventory reports went out to property owners this week and the mailings will continue through June 14. Property owners are asked to double check their inventory reports and contact the City’s Bureau of Assessment before Friday, June 28 if information is incorrect or out of date.

In July, the City will begin its review of property data and valuation. New estimated assessments will go out to property owners in November and December of this year.

Property owners will then have a period in which to review or appeal their estimated assessments, with the new values to be implemented when City and school tax bills go out in July of 2020 and for Monroe County tax bills mailed in January of 2021.

The goal of the 2020 revaluation is to ensure property assessments reflect current market values.
