City of Rochester

News Release

(Tuesday, June 25, 2019) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren issued the following statement today, on the last day of school for the Rochester City School District:

“Yet another school year is behind us, and I would like to congratulate each and every one of our students on another successful academic year, particularly those who are graduating and moving on to college, career or service to our country. Your hard work has paid off and now it is time to celebrate your accomplishments.

“The future of Rochester is in the hands of our students. That is why it is so important to me and my administration to fight for their right to the best education our city can offer. We have big challenges facing our city and we need our youth to be prepared for it.

“While you are on break from school keep in mind that learning happens everywhere, not just in the classroom. Take advantage of what the City of Rochester has to offer throughout the summer. You can experience programs like Flower City Feeling Good and learn about Rochester’s history through a nature walk or learn to canoe.

“I also want to urge drivers to be extra careful now that more children may be playing outside or heading to and from our parks, libraries and R-centers. I wish everyone a safe and happy summer.”
