City of Rochester News Release
(Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2020) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren and Visit
Rochester today announced the Welcome Home Roc 2020 initiative to kick start
the event season in Rochester. The goal of Welcome Home Roc 2020 is the city’s
call to those who have left Rochester to come home and witness the progress our
community has made in recent years.
“2020
is an exciting year to visit Rochester as we celebrate multiple milestones”
said Mayor Warren. “With the 100th anniversary of the 19th
Amendment and Susan B. Anthony’s 200th birthday, 2020 is the perfect
time to come home to Rochester. Whether you were born here, went to school
here, or are visiting for the first time, I invite you to come and experience
the exciting transformation and enhancements taking place all over our
community. Welcome Home Roc 2020 is our way to showcase all of the great things
that Rochester has to offer.”

The
website www.visitrochester.com/welcomehome has multiple themed itinerary
ideas to encourage visitors to Rochester in 2020. The itineraries include “Family-Friendly,”
“Women’s Rights,” and “Civil Rights.”
Mayor
Warren was also joined by the event promoters of Rochester’s most iconic
festivals who discussed how their events will take part in Welcome Home Roc
2020. The following events will join the Welcome Home Roc 2020 celebration:
Lilac Festival, May 8 – 17; Party in the Park, Thursday’s, June 18 – August 13;
Puerto Rican Festival, August 13 – 15; Roc Women’s Fest, August 15; Roc Summer
Soul Music Festival, August 28 & 29; Roc n’ Ritmo, September 19; Roc
Holiday Village, December 4 – 6, 11 – 13, 17 – 20, 26 & 27.
