(Thursday, March 12, 2020) — Following the guidance of the Monroe County Department of Health Department regarding social distancing for gatherings of larger than 50 people, the following events are postponed and/or canceled until further notice. Updates on cancellations will be provided as they come available and will be posted on the City’s website (cityofrochester.gov) and social media sites: (Facebook: CityofRochesterNY) (Twitter: CityRochesterNY). “Out of an abundance of caution, we are doing everything we can to protect the citizens of Rochester,” said Mayor Lovely Warren. “Therefore, we are cancelling or postponing City-sponsored events where we anticipate over 50 attendees. We will continue to take common sense measures that benefit the health and well-being of our community.”

Rochester City Hall, Neighborhood Service Centers, R- Centers, City cemeteries, the City of Rochester Public Market and the Downtown and City branch libraries will continue their normal operating hours.

  • Books Sandwiched In: In-person programs at Central are cancelled from March 17-April 14. The lectures will be available for streaming online at the Friends & Foundation and Central Library Facebook pages during their usual time (Tuesdays beginning at 12:12 p.m.) 
  • Black Women's Book Fair at the Central Library: March 28 - cancelled
  • Deadly Medicine Reception: April 22 - cancelled
  • Transgender Forum at the Central Library: April 22 - cancelled

  • Adult Women’s Hockey League, March 18 - suspended
  • UR Class Council 2022 Skating Event, March 21- cancelled
  • School #12 PTA Skating Event, March 27 - cancelled
  • Sled Hockey Tournament, March 28 - cancelled

Other Sporting Events:

  • Rochester City Soccer League End of the Season Celebration, March 13 - cancelled
  • R-Center City Wide Basketball League - suspended until further notice
  • CBL Community Wide Basketball League at Tyshaun Cauldwell and Ryan Center on Saturdays - suspended until further notice
  • CWA Wrestling Club at Ryan R-Center on Monday and Wednesday nights –suspended until further notice

La Marketa Community Business Resource meetings on March 16 and March 18, 2020 have been cancelled. For information regarding the application and selection process for La Marketa retail business kiosks, call 585-428-6907 or email pmarket@cityofrochester.gov.

All permit holders at City lodges, locations and ballrooms will be contacted regarding their permits during this time and no further permits will be issued until further notice.
