Rochester City Council Member Malik Evans to Hold Virtual “Council Member on the Corner” focusing on Mental Health

On Wednesday, August 26th at 6:00 PM City Council Member Malik Evans will host a virtual “Council Member on the Corner” discussion with three mental health experts. During these uncertain times, focusing on mental health and wellness is especially important; joining Council Member Evans for this discussion will be:

Kwasi Boaitey, LMSW, CASAC an Employee Assistance Counselor with UR Medicine

Felicia Reed-Watt LCSW a Psychotherapist with the University of Rochester

Khadijah Tillman, LCSW a Psychotherapist with Sankofa Family Counseling Services

Questions for panelist can be sent to Courtney.Thomas@cityofrochester.gov, and they will answer questions during the live event. The “Council Member on the Corner” event will be live streamed online at facebook.com/malik.evans.12 or youtube.com/user/malikdevans.

Evans began the “Council Member on the Corner” series in 2018 as a way to engage with constituents in their neighborhoods. The events have allowed Council Member Malik Evans to meet with residents in neighborhoods and homes around the City of Rochester. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic these events will
need be held virtually, until it is safe to gather in groups again.

“I look forward to engaging with these knowledgeable practitioners on the importance of mental health,” said City Council Member Malik Evans, “talking about mental health is important, especially during these turbulent times where people can be experiencing increased anxiety and isolation. We need to bring this conversation to the forefront and be able to connect people with resources.”
