Councilmember Harris Hosts Mini Clean Sweep in 19th
Ward with Neighbors and Local Leaders
On Saturday, August 29, 2020, Councilmember LaShay D. Harris held a Mini Clean
Sweep in partnership with County Legislator Sabrina LaMar.
Mayor Lovely A.
Warren, 19th Ward neighbors, and Rise Up Rochester members gathered
to clean garbage and debris along the Chili Avenue, Gardiner Street, and
Thurston Road areas. Included are photos from the event.
“I
would like to thank our partners, including the Department of Environment
Services for providing masks and cleaning supplies, the Southwest Neighborhood
Service Center for assisting in organizing the event, and all of the community
members for volunteering their time,” said Councilmember Harris. “We weren’t
out there only to clean, we also engaged with our neighbors to remind them to
fill out the 2020 Census. An accurate count of our population is crucial in
securing federal funding for our community – including dollars to improve our
infrastructure and to keep our neighborhoods safe and beautiful.”
Legislator
LaMar added, “If we want people to invest in our community, we must be willing
to be of service to our community! I would like to thank Mayor Lovely Warren,
Councilmember Harris, the 19th Ward Association, Rise Up Rochester,
and the City of Rochester for their continued efforts in reimagining our
neighborhoods.”

Census can be completed online in 12 different languages at 2020census.gov/en/languages,
