Southeast Neighborhood Liaison

LGBTQ+ Community Liaison

Jim is a well-known and involved member of our community. A familiar face in the arts community, his artwork has been displayed at various galleries and spaces around Rochester. Many of his recent works have been commissioned portraits and likenesses of pets and buildings. Jim earned his Bachelor of Fine Arts, Painting from the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he is the recipient of the Windsor Newton Award.

Beginning in the late 1980s, Jim worked at the Cinema Theater, managing and operating business functions including handling and scheduling media, promotions and social media, supplies, staffing, training and customer service. Jim helped facilitate many community events at the theater including the ReelMind Film Festival, ImageOut Film Festival, Rochester Movie Makers, Bicycle Film Festival, South Clinton Merchant Association, Highland Park Neighborhood, American Red Cross Blood Drive and animal adoptions. He also work with the City and South East Area Coalition to beautify the neighborhood with sidewalk paintings of the Cinema cats.

Having served the Southeast community for many years in the City of Rochester, Jim’s background, strong customer rapport and personality, make him well suited to serve the needs of the residents, organizations and business owners in the Southeast quadrant. In addition to serving as Southeast Rochester’s Neighborhood Liaison, Jim is Mayor Warren’s Liaison to the LGBTQ+ community along with Deputy Mayor James Smith and will bring the concerns of the LGBTQ+ community to City Hall. Rochester has scored 100% on the Municipal Equality Index, which reflects the work that Mayor Warren has done on behalf of the LGBT Community to make Rochester as inclusive and welcoming a city as possible.

Jim resides in the City of Rochester with his partner, Rick.
