IMPORTANT UPDATE 2021 Fire Fighter Hiring Process

Important Update on the 2021 Fire Fighter Hiring Process

Due to COVID-19 there have been delays in the hiring process associated with the November 2, 2019 Fire Fighter Civil Service Exam. Currently, there is an active Eligible List resulting from this exam and no additional Fire Fighter Civil Service Exams are scheduled at this time. Information will be available at the City of Rochester Human Resources Department when the next fire fighter exam is scheduled.

At this time, all applicants have received the results of the 2019 Exam and their placement on the Eligible List. Letters have been sent to the first group of candidates invited to participate in the Qualifying Physical Agility Screening Test (PACER/BEEP test), which is the next step in the hiring process. The physical agility will commence in June 2021. The letter provides general information about the physical agility test and background investigation questionnaire.

The Rochester Fire Department  is hosting Voluntary Background Questionnaire Assistance Workshops in order to familiarize candidates invited to the Qualifying Physical Agility Screening Test.  These sessions will include an overview of the next steps in the hiring process and detailed information on how to accurately complete the Background Investigation Questionnaire. These workshops are only open to candidates invited to the 2021 Physical Agility Screening.
