News Release -- Supervised Swimming at Durand Eastman Beach Returns Saturday

(Friday, June 18, 2021) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today announced that supervised swimming will return to Durand Eastman Beach Saturday for the first time since 2018.

“Visitors will once again be able to swim under the watchful eyes of our lifeguards at this beautiful spot on Lake Ontario,” said Mayor Warren. “Child and family safety is our top priority, so it’s important that we continue to offer this opportunity to enjoy the beach safely. Durand Eastman Beach is one of our city’s most beautiful natural assets and helps us create more jobs, safer and more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities.”

The summer swim season begins Saturday, June 19 and continues through Sept. 6, noon to 6 p.m. Monday through Sunday. On the days a Cool Sweep is declared, the beach will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The designated swim area includes lifeguards and restroom facilities. It is located in front of Parking Lot A at the western end of the beach, 1250 Lakeshore Blvd.
