RFP - Genesee Valley Park Boat House Management and Operation

The City of Rochester is seeking proposals (Proposal(s)) from qualified Consultants to enter into an professional services agreement (PSA) to manage, operate and promote the Genesee Valley Boathouse and adjacent facilities. The Consultant’s responsibilities shall include maintaining and operating the Facilities, promoting and providing water sport activities targeted toward City residents with a focus on youth and families, and operating the canoe livery at Genesee Valley Park Boathouse.

Background

The Genesee Valley Park Boathouse, located off Elmwood Avenue near the GVP Sports Complex, consists of a 10,240 square foot building including office space, and two addition boat storage buildings with 600’ of permanent ADA accessible dock and is one of the few hand carried boat launches on the river. The Facilities as well as approximately 10 aluminum canoes are owned by the City. In addition to the City owned canoes, additional kayaks, canoes, paddles and life jackets and other equipment are the necessary equipment (Equipment) for the services and programs at the Facilities. The site has been the home to canoeing, kayaking, rowing and sculling for the past 30+ years. 

The City has a desire to encourage and increase awareness and use of the site by City residents particularly youth and adults who are members of groups historically under-represented in paddling
sports, including people of color.
