Motorist Advisory -- Motorists Urged to Use Caution, Observe Alternate Parking Regulations During Winter Snowfall

City of Rochester

Motorist Advisory

(Monday, Jan. 10, 2022) – The City is reminding motorists to use caution and help facilitate plow operations by observing parking regulations in response to a Winter Weather Advisory issued by the National Weather Service today.

The Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until 1 p.m. Tuesday. The Weather Service is calling for 4 to 7 inches of blowing snow with wind gusts up to 35 miles per hour between 8 p.m. Monday and 2 a.m. Tuesday.

Motorists are asked to schedule extra time into their morning commute, allow for extra braking distance, and adhere to alternate-side parking regulations so plow operators can effectively clear the roads of snow.

Refuse and recycling customers are reminded to keep collection containers out of the road and space them at least one foot apart so drivers have room to lift them with the truck’s service arm. Property owners are also asked to clear sidewalks in front of their property of snow and ice.
