Motorist Advisory - Flower City Challenge to Alter Several Traffic Patterns this Weekend

(Thursday, April 21, 2022) - The Half Marathon and 5K races associated with the Rochester Regional Health System Flower City Challenge will create the following traffic impacts on Saturday, April 23 and the morning of Sunday, April 24. The race begins on the Broad Street Bridge at 7:15 a.m. and will take runners through various city neighborhoods.

The following streets will be closed to all traffic until the final runner leaves the area. These streets will re-open as soon as possible after that time.
• Broad St. Bridge: 5 p.m., Sat., April 23 – 1 p.m. Sun., April 24
• Court St. Bridge: 7:15 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
• W. Main Street; Madison Street; Brown Street; Morrie Silver Way; State Street; E. Main St.: 7:15 – 9 a.m.
• E. Main Street - from State Street to East Avenue; East Avenue; Pitkin Street; East Avenue, Argyle Street; Park Avenue; South Goodman Street: 7:45 – 9 a.m.
• South Avenue from Main Street to Court Street: 7:45 – 9 a.m.
• South Goodman Street from Park Avenue to Pinetum Drive: 8 –10 a.m.
• Exit 17 from I-490: 8 – 10 a.m.
• Pinetum Drive; South Goodman Street; Doctors Street; Mt. Vernon Avenue; Alpine Street; South Avenue; Robinson Drive; Mt. Hope Avenue; Ford Street Bridge: 8 – 11 a.m.
• Exchange Boulevard; Ford Street; West Broad Street: 8:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

The following intersections will not be closed but will experience delays:
• South Plymouth Avenue at West Broad Street
• Exit 13 from I-490 will be directed south on Brown Street
• State Street between Brown Street and Church Street will allow northbound traffic only
• South Clinton Avenue at East Main Street
• Chestnut Street at East Avenue
• Scio Street at East Avenue
• Pitkin Street at East Avenue
• Alexander Street at East Avenue
• Street Crossings at Park Avenue
• Harvard Street at South Goodman Street
• Monroe Avenue at Goodman Street
• South Clinton Avenue at South Goodman (Access to Route I-490 East only)
• South Avenue at Alpine Street/Robinson Drive
• Mt. Hope Avenue at Robinson Drive
• Wilson Boulevard at Elmwood Avenue (access to and from Wilson Boulevard from Elmwood Avenue during peak runner times will be restricted. Use Intercampus Drive, Ford Street or McLean Street)

All times are approximate. Local residential traffic will be delayed, but accommodated.
