News Release — City Offers Morning R-Center and Library Hours Due to Extreme Cold

(Friday, February 3, 2023) – As city residents deal with the extreme cold and the closing of the Rochester City School District today, the City of Rochester offers several warming-center and youth activities.

The City provides morning hours at two R-Center locations:

  • The Trenton and Pamela Jackson R-Center at 485 N. Clinton Ave. is open today from 8 a.m. through 9 p.m.
  • The David F. Gantt R-Center at 700 North St. is open today from 10 a.m. through 9 p.m.

All other City R-Centers are open today from 2 – 9 p.m.

Downtown’s Central Branch Library will be open from 9 a.m. through 6 p.m. today, and other Rochester Public Library locations will be open normal hours; visit the City’s website for details.

The City reminds residents to limit the amount of time spent outdoors, check on the safety of elderly family and neighbors, keep pets inside, and never use stoves or other cooking appliances to heat your home.

City residents are asked to call 311 if they lose heat or would like to report a neighbor or family member who needs assistance during this time.
