News Release - Mayor Evans Encourages Residents to Heed Monroe County Department of Health Advisories

(Wednesday, June 7, 2023) – Mayor Malik D. Evans has asked that all R-Center, sports fields, Sports Complex, Rochester Animal Services, and City Library activities take place inside in response to the significant decline in air quality in Rochester caused by Canadian wildfires. Any outdoor events that cannot be moved inside will be canceled.

“I am staying in close contact with our partners at Monroe County and the Department of Health, and encourage all city residents and workers to heed their recommendations,” said Mayor Evans. “This situation will be temporary until air quality improves, and the health and well-being of our young people and those with health risk factors are of utmost importance.”
