City of Rochester
News Release
(Wednesday, June 7, 2023) – Mayor Malik D. Evans has
asked that all R-Center, sports fields, Sports Complex, Rochester Animal
Services, and City Library activities take place inside in response to the
significant decline in air quality in Rochester caused by Canadian wildfires.
Any outdoor events that cannot be moved inside will be canceled.
“I am staying in close contact with our partners at Monroe
County and the Department of Health, and encourage all city residents and
workers to heed their recommendations,” said Mayor Evans. “This situation will
be temporary until air quality improves, and the health and well-being of our
young people and those with health risk factors are of utmost importance.”
Anyone wanting to check the status of an outdoor event and
confirm where or if it will take place can contact the event coordinators, or
check with the event's location:
