Mayor Evans Voted Board Chair of National Civic League

(Monday, Nov. 20, 2023) – The National Civic League has elected Mayor Malik D. Evans as its new Board Chair effective Friday, Nov. 17, 2023. Mayor Evans was invited to join the organization in November 2022 as its Vice Chair.

The National Civic League which includes 25 civic leaders from around the U.S., works to advance civic engagement and build stronger, more inclusive communities.

“I am honored to be chosen to lead this important board and look forward to advancing the National Civic League’s mission,” said Mayor Evans. “Working together, we will continue to foster a commitment to democracy, education, and community and empower individuals to be active, informed citizens through civic engagement. It’s a future I envision for Rochester, as well as for all cities across our country.”

“We are very excited to have Mayor Evans as the Chair of our Board of Directors,” said National Civic League President Doug Linkhart. “Rochester is an All-America City, and Mayor Evans has prioritized community engagement, youth involvement, and economic prosperity in his work, making him a perfect candidate. The National Civic League has a 129-year history and has been led by mayors, U.S. Senators, foundation presidents, and nonprofit directors. We’re honored to have Mayor Evans join that distinguished list.”
