Emergency Communications Department - Public Awareness

Members of the team are committed to providing useful and educational information about the services available though 911. The Public Awareness team's mission; The 911 Public Awareness Team is a dedicated group of employees who strive to educate the citizens of Monroe County on the proper use of the 911 system. The aim of this  program is to increase the community's understanding of the activities and roles of this agency and increase the public confidence.

We have our mascot Cell Phone Sally that can go with our team, which on average responds to 70 different events in the community per year. Some of the events we respond to include:

  • Red Wings Education Day
  • Deaf Health Festival
  • Roc the Block
  • National Night Out in Irondequoit
  • Job Fairs
  • Fire Department Open Houses
  • School Open Houses
  • Tours of 911 for Public Safety Agencies

We would be happy to send a representative to your community gathering or school classroom. To schedule a team member for your organization or school please contact the 911 Center at 528-2200 during normal business hours for referral to the team's organizer.
