The 911 Center is very proud of our Public Awareness and Education unit. Members of the team are committed to providing useful and educational information about the services available though 911. The Public Awareness team's mission; The 911 Public Awareness Team is a dedicated group of employees who strive to educate the citizens of Monroe County on the proper use of the 911 system.The aim of this program is to increase the community's understanding of the activities and roles of this agency and increase the public confidence.
We have our mascot Red E. Fox that can go with our team or his little brother Robot Red. (Robot Red is a motorized small Red E. Fox that is remote controlled and has a loud speaker so he can talk to the crowd). Last year our team went to 56 different events in the community, including 30 events where our macot Red E. Fox went to the events as well. In 2009 some of the events we went out to were:

- The MS Walk at Genesee Valley Park
- Lilac Festival Parade
- Spring into Safety at RGH
- Several Fire Department open houses
- Several School open houses
- Cop-A-Palooza
- Smoke, Courage, and Fire at Charlotte Beach
- Red Wings Games
- Zoo Boo
