Genesee Riverway Trail - Upper Maplewood Park and Pedestrian Bridge

The Genesee Riverway Trail is an off-road trail for walking, running and bicycling along the Genesee River. It extends through the scenic, historic and cultural heart of Rochester, from the Erie Canal to downtown and Lake Ontario.  It provides pedestrian access to the Genesee River, its scenic gorge, three waterfalls, eight pedestrian bridges and eleven parks, including four historic parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.

Upper Maplewood Park and Pedestrian Bridge

The Genesee Riverway Trail runs along a wooded path on the upper ridge of the Genesee River Gorge through Maplewood Park, a favorite spot to enjoy the fall foliage.  Upper Maplewood Park features picnic areas, a pond, playground and pedestrian bridge to Seneca Park. North of Maplewood Drive, the Genesee Riverway Trail follows Lake Avenue to Turning Point Park. To the south, the trail passes under the massive arches of Veterans Memorial Bridge along the Genesee River Gorge to Lower Maplewood Park.

A parking lot is located on Bridgeview Drive.
