Genesee Riverway Trail - Genesee Crossroads

The Genesee Riverway Trail is an off-road trail for walking, running and bicycling along the Genesee River. It extends through the scenic, historic and cultural heart of Rochester, from the Erie Canal to downtown and Lake Ontario.  It provides pedestrian access to the Genesee River, its scenic gorge, three waterfalls, eight pedestrian bridges and eleven parks, including four historic parks designed by Frederick Law Olmsted.

Genesee Crossroads - Charles Carroll Park

Genesee Crossroads Park & Charles Carroll Plaza straddle both sides of the Genesee River in downtown Rochester. The parks are connected by the Sister Cities Pedestrian Bridge.  The Genesee River is lined with walks, benches and picnic areas in both parks. There is so much to see and do with historic architecture, urban parks, dining, shopping, sports, history, arts and entertainment. Parking is available in one of many nearby parking garages including the Genesee Crossroads Garages located under Charles Carroll Plaza. On-street parking is also availble in the area.

Note: Please do not ride your bike on the sidewalk in the downtown area (inside the Inner Loop). On the sidewalk sections of the trail, you may choose to ride on the pavement or walk your bike on the sidewalk.

Downtown Trails

The nearby Plymouth Avenue Greenway Trail also runs north and south through downtown Rochester, and is located on the east side of Plymouth Avenue.  The Heritage Trail runs east and west and crosses the Genesee Riverway Trail at Broad Street.
