News Release - Got Talent? Auditions Announced for ROC Stars Talent Series

(Friday, Feb. 22, 2013) – Calling all singers, rappers, dancers, poets and visual artists. The City’s Department of Recreation and Youth Services, the Rochester-Monroe County Youth Bureau and the Nazareth College Center for Service Learning and Community Youth Development, have announced audition dates for artists ages 10 through 19 interested in competing in the ROC Stars Talent Show.

Visual artists may submit one piece of artwork via email as a high-resolution image along with a completed registration form to: harrist@cityofrochester.gov, from Feb. 27 to April 5.

In-person auditions will be held at the Thomas P. Ryan Community Center, 530 Webster Ave. from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for all other competition categories on following dates:

• Singers: Wednesday, February 27
• Rappers: Wednesday, March 13
• Dancers: Wednesday, March 27
• Poets: Wednesday, April 10

Registration for auditions is required. Completed forms may be brought to the audition but participants are encouraged to register ahead of time. Finalists will be notified no later than April 19. The cash prize for first place winners in each category is $200. Second place winners will each receive $100 and third place winners will receive $50. The ROC Stars Talent Show will be held on Saturday, April 27 at East High School, 1801 East Main St.
