Mayor Warren Extends Deadline in Parcel 5 RFP

 City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, July 14, 2016) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today announced that the deadline to respond to the City’s Request for Proposals for Parcel 5 of the Midtown Site has been extended to Sept. 9, 2016.

“Some of the prospective developers for this critical parcel have requested more time and we are honoring those requests,” said Mayor Warren. “Considering the importance of this site and the influence it will have on all of Downtown Rochester, I want to be sure we get the best possible proposals. This site will play a critical role in our efforts to create more jobs, safer, more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities in our schools.”

The City issued an RFP June 17 seeking proposals for the best possible development plan for Parcel 5. The deadline was July 15. Any developers or other parties who have already submitted proposals will be given an opportunity to update or amend their proposals and submit them again.

The written objectives of this RFP are to:
• Create jobs in Downtown Rochester for city residents; • Create an optimal mix of uses on the site that restores the urban fabric and enhances the vitality of Rochester’s Main Street; • Create an “activity generator” for surrounding developments; and • Increase the City’s revenue base.

Development proposals will now be due to the City by 4 p.m. on Sept. 9, 2016.

A committee will be established to objectively review, evaluate and rank all proposals received. This committee will ultimately recommend a development option to the Mayor and City Council for their consideration.
