News Release

(Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today welcomed volunteers from The Father’s House Church and thanked them for holding their Day of Hope community cleaning and beautification event in Rochester’s neighborhoods and schools.

“I am so very grateful to the men and women of The Father’s House for their commitment to our community,” Mayor Warren said. “Day of Hope is an opportunity to make hope a reality. By bringing hope to our city, The Father’s House is helping us create more jobs, safer more vibrant neighborhoods and better educational opportunities in our schools.”

The Father’s House Church held its Day of Hope on Saturday, which brought more than 300 volunteers to city neighborhoods and schools for a day of cleaning and beautification projects. More than 600 volunteers worked at other sites in Greece and Chili.

The City’s Departments of Neighborhood and Business Development and Environmental Services coordinated with The Father’s House to select neighborhood sites and provide materials to facilitate the volunteer activity.

The City coordinated the effort through its Mini Sweep Program, which is an extension of the annual Clean Sweep cleaning and beautification event but can be held at any point during the year. Groups and organizations that request a Mini Sweep at a site of their choice will receive the same support they would at Clean Sweep, which includes the supply and collection of garbage bags; collection of bulk refuse materials; and tool and mulch supply.
