News Release A Rosh Hashanah - Greeting from Mayor Lovely A. Warren

City of Rochester

News Release

(Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017) – Today it is my distinct pleasure to wish the members of Rochester’s Jewish community a blessed and joyful Rosh Hashanah.

Rosh Hashanah is the Jewish New Year and provides an opportunity to reflect on the year before and the year ahead. Beginning tonight and extending to Friday evening, our Jewish friends will gather in their homes and synagogues to express their gratitude and devotion to God through many wonderful traditions, which include lighting candles, sounding the shofar, festive meals and, of course, communal prayer.

As the Mayor of Rochester, it brings me great joy to know so many of our friends and neighbors will be sharing these experiences and creating wonderful memories in our community. Shana Tovah – have a good and sweet year!
