FAFSA - Free Application for Federal Student Aid


FAFSA Fest is an annual series of events in that will bring local volunteers to locations around the city to help students and families complete their FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) online, answer financial aid questions and provide individual counseling to understanding college costs. Food and refreshments will be provided, and there is no need to pre-register. Volunteers include financial aid counselors from local colleges, accountants and attorneys. 

FAFSA Fest 2018 Events


  • Monday, Oct. 1, 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. - MCC Downtown
  • Saturday, Oct. 27, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. - East High School
  • Saturday, Nov. 10, 12 to 2 pm. - NE College Prep
  • Thursday, Nov. 15, 5 to 7 p.m. - REOC


What to Bring:

  • A parent or legal guardian, and
  • 2016 Federal tax returns

All students are welcome! Assistance for special circumstances will be available.

Students attending the events  will be eligible for a drawing to win one of twelve $500 scholarships to the Monroe Community College bookstore, thanks to the Monroe Community College Foundation.

Rochester CAN

The Rochester College Access Network (RCAN)  is a program of the Rochester Education Foundation. It is a collaborative initiative encouraging college access and success through communication, coalition and advocacy for students in Rochester to enable students to reach their full potential.

RCAN members include  every local college or university, Rochester City School District, the Rochester Area Community Foundation, United Way, not-for-profit groups including Hillside Work Scholarship Connection and the Urban League, and business and other individual representatives.

Rochester College Access Network is a component of the Roc the Future community-wide coalition that tracks the work of local agencies seeking to close the achievement gap for students in Rochester Schools.
