2018 Event Schedule

In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month each year, Mayor Lovely A. Warren and the City’s Hispanic Heritage Committee host a month-long program of events to celebrate the generations of Hispanic Americans who have positively influenced and enriched the Rochester community.

Latino Golf Tournament
• Saturday, August 25, 12-6 p.m.
• Braemar Country Club, 4704 Ridge Road West, Spencerport, NY

What could be better than a day on the golf course for a good cause? Join us for an exciting 18-hole tournament! Lunch, prizes and a Delmonico steak dinner are included. Proceeds will benefit the Latino Scholarship Fund and Hispanic Heritage Month events.

Latino Art Gallery Exhibition
• Tuesday, September 11-October 22
• City Hall, 30 Church St.

View unique and eclectic art created by local artists. The exhibit is inspired by Hispanic Heritage Month and is expected to lure art lovers from all over Rochester!

Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-Off Celebration
• Friday, September 14, 12-2 p.m.
• City Hall, 30 Church St.

Celebrate the official beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month with City officials and members of the community. The event will feature the musical cast of "Anna in the Tropics" from the Blackfriars Theatre, live coverage by El Poder Latino 97.1 FM with music, and a Spanish food truck.

Youth Theatre Night
Friday, September 21, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
City Hall, Council Chambers, 30 Church St.

Who can resist a lively night of Latin theatre?  Watch unique performances and creative narritives.  Delicious Latin pastries will be provided.

Honoring our Abuelitos
Wednesday, September 26, 6-8:30 p.m.
• City Hall Atrium, 30 Church St.

Join us in recognizing our “Abuelitos” for the sacrifice, wisdom and unconditional love they have shown us. Enjoy live music, Spanish cuisine and the crowning of the 2018 Abuelito and Abuelita of the year!

Youth Dance Night 
• Friday, October 5, 5:30-8:30 p.m.
• MLK Park Lodge, 353 Court St.

This is a perfect opportunity for Rochester’s Latino youth to gather and celebrate our culture while enjoying a Latin music and food.

Rise Up Latina
• Thursday, October 11, 5-9 p.m.
• MLK Park Lodge, 353 Court St.

This event is geared to empower women through-out the community. Come and listen to inspiring guest speakers and visit informational booths. 

Noche Tropical
• Saturday, November 10, doors open at 7 p.m.
• Rochester Riverside Hotel, 120 E. Main St

• Tickets: $30.00 per person in advance, $40.00 at the door. 

On our most prestigious night, Rochestarians of all ethnicities will gather to celebrate the end of Hispanic Heritage Month. Enjoy an elegant sit-down dinner and dance the night away with the sounds from a live Latin band!

The Hispanic Heritage Committee is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating events in the city of Rochester that will promote cultural enrichment and awareness.  We take pride in recognizing the positive and historic contributions made by Latinos to the city of Rochester, our country and to the world.
