City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, July 11, 2019) - Mayor Lovely A. Warren is pleased to welcome International Community Services (ICS) to Downtown Rochester.

“International Community Services is an excellent addition to the city of Rochester because they are uplifting individuals and families who are seeking a better life,” said Mayor Warren. “We are pleased to have a business that is working towards inclusivity and equality for all residents. We welcome new people and new cultures to our city and we realize that their diversity enhances the vibrancy of our neighborhoods.”

Neighborhood Service Centers Director Daisy Rivera-Algarin joined business owners Saida Ali and Tryn Parker at a ribbon cutting ceremony today to welcome ICS to Downtown Rochester. ICS helps refugees and immigrants transition to the United States. Clients receive educational services to help with assimilation, guided tours of their new communities and real estate advice.

ICS provides clients with translations of various languages in-person, through video chat or over the phone. Services include translations for school meetings, social services, family and City court, legal documentation and medical visits. The company also boasts its Transportation Solution initiative, a program that provides transit to a variety of needs such as medical appointments and immigration hearings.

Founder and CEO Saida Ali is personally invested in her company’s mission. Due to the Somali Civil War in 1991, Ali’s family fled to the United States in 1998. As she adapted to American culture, Ali struggled with the English language. Now, with over 10 years of experience as a translator for Somali and Bantu communities in New York State, Ali hopes to help others facing similar circumstances.

“We are an internationally guided company but locally concerned about our community and bringing all communities together through one guided hand,” said Ali. “We are dedicated to helping foreigners transition into every aspect of daily living in America.”

International Community Services is located at 510 State St., Suite 9A, and is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. For more information, visit http://www.globetranslate.com/.
