News Release -Mayor Warren Celebrates Grand Opening of Morgan’s Cereal Bar on East Avenue

City of Rochester

News Release

(Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren joined with business owner Cheria Anderson and other community leaders to celebrate the opening of Rochester’s first ever full-service cereal bar and restaurant.

“This is what entrepreneurship is all about. It’s about taking a risk on a new idea, introducing something fresh and exciting to our community,” said Mayor Warren. “And one thing I really love is how this brings out the child in everyone. This is something you can enjoy with your kids – and be a bit of a kid yourself.”

Morgan’s Cereal Bar is named after Anderson’s grandmother and god daughter. The business features an array of different hot and cold cereals, toppings and breakfast food, as well as unique menu items like cereal waffles, cereal pancakes and cereal milkshakes.

Anderson, a lifelong resident of Rochester, saw her first cereal bar in London in 2012 and later saw a similar venture in New York City. A lover of cereal herself, she wanted to bring the concept to her hometown.

“I wanted to open a place that incorporates cereal in every aspect of the menu for children and adults to enjoy. This is a place for everybody,” Anderson said, adding that she wanted the business to be a tribute to the strong and positive values she grew up with.

Morgan’s Cereal Bar, at 320 East Ave., is now open Tuesdays through Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday evenings from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. The business will also be available for rental for personal or professional events.
