News Release

(Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren, the City of Rochester, in partnership with 103.9 FM WDKX, shared in the holiday spirit on Saturday by providing hundreds of families and their children with coats, hats, gloves and numerous toys during the annual Bringing Christmas Downtown celebration at City Hall, 30 Church Street.

“The holiday season can often be a difficult time of year for families,” said Mayor Warren. “That’s why the City is committed to recognizing the needs of the community in hopes of placing smiles on the faces and warmth in the hearts of our children, when we can. Today’s coat and toy giveaway is one of those times we are able to give back by expressing our support. That’s what this time of year is all about.”

The celebration ran from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Children received free photos with Santa Claus and selected from an array of toys at the Toy Village. The City received more than 500 new or gently used coats donated by the community and local organizations.

This year’s Bringing Christmas Downtown event is sponsored by Excellus, the Rochester Jamaican Organization, Inc., the Rochester West Indian Festival Organization, St. John Fisher College and Creative Eye Photo.
