News Release

(Thursday, May 6, 2021) – Mayor Lovely A. Warren today announced the completion of “@the5”, a transitional community entertainment space located on Parcel 5 of the Midtown Redevelopment site on E. Main St. Downtown.

“I am thrilled to announce that we are one step closer to transforming ‘At the 5’ into a vibrant entertainment and meeting space in the heart of our Downtown” said Mayor Warren. “While I share our community’s excitement about the completion of this project, I ask residents to be patient and give the beautiful new sod time to take hold and ready for a busy summer!”

City crews finished converting the development site into a transitional entertainment space with newly laid sod, a walking path and room for pop-up retail. The City asks visitors to the site to avoid walking on the new sod to allow the grass to set. The parcel will be barreled off until the grass is ready for foot traffic. The sod is expected to be ready for public use near Memorial Day.

The Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Riverside Convention Center is currently accepting reservations and offering support with logistics to facilitate scheduled programming and events, such as fitness classes, pop-up retail and food, and small outdoor concerts. Members of the public that are interested in holding a special event “At the 5” are asked to contact the Convention Center at (585) 770-2374 or email the5@rrcc.com

City sponsored events scheduled for “At the 5” will be announced at a formal opening ceremony in the coming weeks. All events and reservations will be held in accordance with the current New York State pandemic guidelines for outdoor gatherings.
