News Release - Fishing for Fun at Cobbs Hill

City of Rochester

News Release

(Thursday, April 6, 2023) – Mayor Malik D. Evans is inviting families and groups to try out fishing at a free, beginner-friendly Fishing for Fun event, 1 to 4 p.m., Sunday, April 16 at the Cobbs Hill Park Lake Riley and Lodge. This fun-filled afternoon will feature fishing on Lake Riley, an introduction to fly fishing demonstration, outdoor yard games, and indoor science activities.

The N.Y. State Dept. of Environmental Conservation (DEC) will be on hand to provide attendees with both bait and fishing equipment and Trout Unlimited—a national non-profit dedicated to conservation and youth—will provide expert instruction on fly casting. Families are encouraged to attend the event together so adults can assist the children. A fishing license will not be required for youth or adults who accompany them at this event.

Pre-registration is required. Visit www.cityofrochester.gov/RCentral to sign up.

The Fishing for Fun event is part of the City’s commitment to the Children’s Outdoor Bill of Rights, a guide to help enable more children to develop active, healthy lifestyles, and spend more time outdoors.
