News Release – R-Center Social-Emotional Health and Wellness Program Information Sessions Continue Aug. 9

(Monday, Aug. 7, 2023) – Mayor Malik D. Evans is inviting Rochester's youth and families to learn more about emotional health and wellness support services now offered at four City R-Centers.

Licensed, community-based child and family therapist and social learning specialist are available at four R-Centers during regular business hours for registered R-Center youth and families.

Information sessions continue from 6 to 7 p.m. this Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the Honorable Willie Walker Lightfoot R-Center for Equity and Justice, 271 Flint St. Another information session will take place 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 23, at David F. Gantt R-Center, 700 North St.

“Rochester’s R-Centers are community treasures that already deliver immense value to city residents,” said Mayor Evans. “And now those services are being enhanced with the availability of free, professional social, mental, and emotional health providers. There are many youth who need our help and unfortunately, the dangers and trauma they face are becoming more acute, so we are finding every possible opportunity to support them.”

“Mayor Evans is focusing our priorities through the lens of our youth,” said Commissioner Dr. Shirley Green. “These services can make a big difference in decreasing violence, developing healthy coping skills, and helping youth learn how to lead successful lives.”

R-Centers provide a wide variety of programs to keep youth and families engaged in a safe place. During the summer, all 11 City R-Centers are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. through 7:30 p.m., and several are open on Saturday.
