(Thursday, Aug. 17, 2023) – Mayor Evans today announced the launch of The Mayor's Mentor UP! Gala, a dynamic initiative aimed at fostering enduring mentorship relationships between influential leaders and city youth ages 14-18. Applications are now being accepted for the gala which will take place on Saturday, November 11, 2023, from 5 to 8 p.m..

This free red-carpet event will connect accomplished community role models with young Rochesterians, forming valuable connections that could lead to natural mentor-mentee partnerships and potential career opportunities. It is also an opportunity for young minds to learn how to network and create lasting connections with peers and leaders in a formal yet enjoyable setting. With support from local chapters, community agencies, colleges, and business leaders, this event will open up a world of opportunities for mentors and mentees alike.

“Young people have all the potential in the world, but we must give them the tools to succeed,’ said Mayor Evans. “They need opportunity to turn their hopes and dreams into reality. I invite local leaders to join us to find every possible opportunity to support them.
