The Bureau of Recreation offers both organized and open sports programs and leagues at R-Centers.  Many R-Centers and Community Centers offer both organized and open sports for youth and adults. Citywide Programs and Leagues

Citywide offerings include both organized programs and leagues for youth and adults:  

Rochester City Soccer League: Rochester City Soccer School offers top-notch training programs tailored specifically for the soccer players who want to develop their skills in the off-season.  Rochester City Soccer offers recreation players (U 5-23) an opportunity to receive additional training from the professional technical staff to complement their regularly scheduled team practices and games.  Sessions are divided up by age groups.  Contact Nicole Hercules at 305-1136  for more information.  Registration

All Summer RocSports Leagues at Cobbs Hill will be excepting registrations for teams beginning February 1st, 2024.  USSSA Guidelines and any Coronavirus Restrictions will apply. 

The City of Rochester, Department of Recreation and Human Services is set to kick off the delayed opening of the 49th season of Adult Softball Leagues at Cobb’s Hill Park. The 2024 season continues to bring new and exciting change to the program as RocSports, LLC continue to coordinate for adult softball, while also looking to expand the overall portfolio of adult sport offerings in basketball and kickball to meet the ever increasing demands of our growing city. 

 All Leagues will have 3 distinct levels of play offered: Competitive ("A"), Recreational ("B") and Social ("C") 


    "Competitive ("A")" Level is for folks who have played higher levels of baseball or softball previously and have lots of experience playing the sport.

    "Recreational ("B")" level is for folks who may have played baseball or softball previously, but not in some time.  These folks have some experience playing the sport.

    "Social ("C")" level is for folks who are new to softball and have never played before, but just want to get out and do something fun and active with friends.

The softball program “RocSoftball @ Cobb’s Hill”  will provide leagues for EVERYONE across ALL skill levels – a combination of COED, Men’s, and Women’s specific programs will be offered throughout the week and with tournaments on selected weekends

 Tennis Lessons (Adult only).  Outdoor tennis lessons are offered  (Summer Only) June -September 2024 at Cobbs Hill and Genesee Valley Park.  For more information visit link at top of page.

Youth Tennis Lessons Love-15 is a FREE Tennis Camp for Rochester City youth ages 7-17. The program is designed to teach skills, etiquette, life skills, and positive values. Next Session will be indoor winter session at the Adams R Center starting in January 2024   rochesterymca.org


Lifeguard Classes Spring 2024 

Lifeguard Class # 1 (4 Week Class)    (This is a 4 week long full lifeguard class) 

March 4th, 5th, 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th (Mon & Tues)   5:00-9:00pm. March 23rd    (Sat) Testing 12:00-3:30pm

 Lifeguard Class # 2  (4 Week Class)     (This is a 4 week long full lifeguard class)

April 9th, 15th, 16th, 23rd, 29th, and 30th (Mon & Tues)   5:00-9:00pm. May 4th   (Sat) Testing 12:00-3:30pm 

 Lifeguard Course # 3. (1 Day Only)   Re-certification Course for Lifeguards that have current certification and needs to be recertified.

You must sign up for ONLY one (1) of the dates below this is a one (1) day class rectification for lifeguards that have current certification.

May 16th       5-9pm  

 

Lifeguard Course #4 (Accelerated Course) (Swimming Skills for accelerated course need to be as an accomplished swimmer)

May 28th, 29th, 30th, 31st   (Tues-Fri 5:00-9:00pm)  June 1st (Sat) Testing 12:00-3:30pm

 

 

First day of each course is pretesting to see if you qualify to make the class.

Must Bring Swim clothes and towel to all classes

All classes will be held at Jackson R Center

Free for City residents

Non-City Resident Youth $75

  Non-City Resident Adults $125
