City Of Rochester

News Release

(Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2011) — Members of the City’s Department of Neighborhood and Business Development were joined by Senator Joseph Robach and City Councilmembers Adam McFadden, Carolee A. Conklin and Dana K. Miller to congratulate owners Pam and Terry Bauer on the re-naming of Beale Street Café to The Beale I – a New Orleans Grille & Bar, 689 South Ave.

The Beale I – a New Orleans Grille & Bar, was one of the neighborhood’s first ventures, and its success has helped spur development in the South Wedge. After 14 years, the popular spot is getting a menu makeover and adding some more spice to its weekly offerings. The restaurant’s second location at 1930 Empire Blvd. in Penfield will be renamed The Beale II – a New Orleans Grille & Bar

The Beale I & II, which specialize in authentic Cajun cuisine and award-winning pit-smoked barbecue, will add some additional New Orleans fare to its menu like The Big Easy, a 22-oz. sandwich combining several smoked meats.

Several nights a week, the restaurants will host local blues bands and the first Tuesday of each month will become Mardi Gras Tuesday, complete with music and drink specials.

New dinner hours at the city location will ensure you can satisfy your Cajun cravings even later. The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sundays and Mondays; 11 a.m. to midnight Tuesday through Saturday.

Terry Bauer’s establishments have been a favorite in the city of Rochester for decades. In the late 1980s and throughout the 1990s, Bauer owned and operated Pooches Pub and Alvid Ord’s Sandwiches on Chestnut Street in downtown Rochester.
