The Bureau of Recreation offers both organized and open sports programs and leagues at R-Centers.  

  

 

Many R-Centers and Community Centers offer both organized and open sports for youth and adults. For more information, call or visit the R-Center of your choice. Go to www.cityofrochester.gov/rcenters for a list.

Citywide Programs and Leagues

Citywide offerings include both organized programs and leagues for youth and adults.

Basketball (Cancelled due to Covid-19  Virus Response and sites being closed)Community-Wide Basketball League for three age divisions are available for girls & boys: Pee Wee (6-9 yrs.); Juniors (10-12 yrs.); Seniors (13-15 yrs.).  Proof of age required.  Player evaluations and draft will be held in February 22nd, 2020.  Fee per person is $30.00.  The Regular Season Begins on  Saturday, February 29 thru April 25, 2020 (8 weeks) from 10:30 a.m. - 2 p.m.  *Registration dates are January 25, February 1st, 8th and 15th, 2020 from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. For more information contact www.cblrochester.com about the Community Wide Basketball League.   To find out about other basketball opportunies for youth and adults, call  Don Corey at 428-7592 or email coreyd@cityofrochester.gov.  Hockey at Genesee Valley Park rink(2) 

NFL Flag Football (Youth only). The City hosts flag football each fall. Season begins September 16th,2019.  Stay tuned for more information, or call Don Corey at 428-7592.

Ice and Floor Hockey (Remainder of Season cancelled 3/16 due to Covid -19 Virus Response) Ice Hockey is played at the Genesee Valley Park Indoor Ice Arena; Floor Hockey is played at select R-Centers in the winter. For more information about Ice Hockey, call 428-7888 or visit Genesee Valley Park Sports Complex. For more information about Floor Hockey, contact your preferred R-Center to learn if that Center is fielding a team.  Registration for Floor Hockey begins on November 4th,2019 and league Play begins on December 3rd,2019.

 Rochester City Soccer League (Postponed .  Please check for Coronavirus Response Updates). Rochester City Soccer League(RCSL) provides opportunities for children and young adults ages 5-23 to have fun, make friends and build character through soccer free of charge.  Practices and games are held in the heart of the City of Rochester.  Players of all abilities and backgrounds grow as soccer plaayers and individuals with the support of caring coaches, exposure to diverse teammates and connections to academic resources and employment opportunities.  Rochester City Soccer provides year round indoor and outdoor soccer opportunities, offering a valuable supplement to school-associated play.  In addition to seasonal leagues, players also benefit from clinics, workshops, pick-up games and more!  For more information contact Nicole Hercules 305-1136 or email: nicole@rochestercitysoccerleague.com

 Youth Punt, Pass, and Kick Competition. Each fall, youth ages 6-15 are invited to participate  in a local competition. Competition begins Wednesday October 2nd, 2019 at Rochester Community Sports Complex (at the downtown stadium) For more information, call 428-7592. 

Learn to Swim (Swim Lessons suspended until further notice due to Covid-19 Virus Response.  Check for Updates.) and Summer Swim Academy. The Learn to Swim (Fall/Winter/Spring) and Summer Swim Academy offers free swim lessons for kids ages 6-18, at six different skill levels--from beginner to advanced. Baby and Me Swim Lessons.  Parents or Guardians introduce their children to the water while learning how to teach them how to swim and learn about water safety.  One adult per child is required.  Swim diapers must be worn.  Sessions are six weeks. The session begins October 12th-November 16th,2019.  Contact Adams St. Pool at 428-7456 or Brittany Bowman at bowmanb@cityofrochester.gov for registering your child for the first session.

Youth Tennis Lessons
The City of Rochester hosts the Maplewood YMCA’s Love 15 Summer Tennis Camp, where youth ages 8-16 learn tennis fundamentals. For more information, call Chuck Hazlett 277-1654, or visit Maplewood Family YMCA.org.

Youth Wrestling. (Wrestling suspended for remainder of season due to Covid-19 Virus Response).  An introduction to wrestling sponsored by the City-Catholic Wrestling Association will be at the Thomas P. Rochester Community & Youth Sports Complex

 

The property at 460 Oak Street is now operated by the Department of Recreation & Youth Services as a youth sports leagues and community organizations will utilize the facility for year-round sports training.  The complex opened in spring 2019 with a variety of Sports Clinics such as lacrosse, football, baseball, soccer, conditioning and much more!  For more information about the Rochester Community Sports Complex and program schedule please call (585) 428-6841.
